Saturday 10th November was a very big day for Sporting 87 FC A Team following their 4-1 win against Grundisburgh Reserves the previous Saturday. After starting the season with only one defeat in the first eight games in all competitions, the A Team faced Kesgrave Kestrels Reserves in the Touchline Suffolk and Ipswich League at the Victory Sports Ground with Kesgrave sitting top of Intermediate-C League and Sporting in second place a point behind. The game finished 1-1 after Kesgrave clinched a disheartening last minute equaliser.

A Team manager Will Frost said “Historically the team has always been mid table/bottom half but it is fantastic for us to be in this position and although frustrating we’ll take the draw against Kesgrave with a pride in how we played. Recent success is partly down to the amount of quality young players we have at the Club coming through our youth section, and it is a pleasure to be part of their footballing journey. Hopefully some of them will progress into the First Team some day.”

This season all forty Sporting 87 Youth and Adult teams are sponsored by Getaway Cars and First Stop Travel. Jonathan Warnock Director of Football said “Will has done a great job of blending youth players into the adult teams and we are delighted that the A Team has had a successful start to their season.”
