Sporting 87 FC are saddened by the death of Mike Ginn, who passed away early Wednesday evening. He leaves wife Fiona and daughter Hope who is a year old.

Mike played for the Club for several years and was manager of the adults A Team until the beginning of the 2016/17 season, when he was diagnosed with leukaemia. Following months of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant he passed away peacefully in Ipswich Hospice.

Many within and outside of the Club have followed his illness via his very moving and honest online blog. Mike’s courage and unswerving Christian faith throughout his illness has been an inspiration to so many.

Our heartfelt sympathy and love are passed to Fiona and Hope, along with his wider family Chris and Maggie, and brother James.

Mike Ginn’s Celebration Service will be 11am on Friday 15th September, at Colchester Road Baptist Church, Ipswich. IP4 4ST. The family have asked for family flowers only, however if people would like to make a contribution to support his daughter Hope’s future, then you can do so on the day or by sending cheques to ‘Miss Hope Ginn’, 17 Ha’penny Field, Holbrook, Ipswich. IP9 2TS.

We are grateful for his gifts to the Club and its members through his witness: www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfEJHwSTG9A.
