Bury St Edmunds based youth and adult football club Sporting 87 FC received three prestigious accolades from the Suffolk FA at Ipswich Town FC this week: best Community Charter Club, best Fair Play Club and best Young Volunteer. The awards are testimony to the focus, dedication and hard work of the Club’s voluntary staff, and the quality of provision that they deliver.
Sporting 87 FC Football Development Manager and Club Secretary Jonathan Warnock expressed his delight of this success, “I’m so pleased and grateful for everyone involved at the Club: the players, parents and all our helpers for gaining this recognition. We continue to see growth in membership in recent years, especially at our new junior age-groups from age five upwards, and I think this is in response to how the Club sets out to provide football experiences to a very high standard, both on and off the pitch; it makes me extremely proud.” Darren Brown, Sporting 87 FC Youth Chairman added, “We’re all delighted to see everybody’s hard work recognised by the FA. Our staff and parents have all helped to create an environment where our children can flourish as individuals and have a lot of fun along the way with their friends. Cameron is a prime example of how we use football to provide so much more than a fun game on a Saturday morning: a product of our Young Leaders Programme, Cameron and several of our very capable young people have now gained local, County and national recognition. Indeed Cameron, who coaches one of our U11 teams, has also just been informed that he’s won the national FA award for best coach at under 25. Our youngsters have some excellent role models to look up to.”
The Club has just started its football campaign for this current season, but welcomes all enquiries for team and reserve player places. Training sessions take place on Thursday evenings and matches on Saturday mornings. There are limited squad places, so enquiries should be made as soon as possible to either Club Secretary Jonathan Warnock (youth and adult): Jonathan.Warnock@Sporting87.co.uk or telephone: 07946 733184.
