Richard Gedge, Our Great Loss

Topic: News

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our highly regarded and much valued coach Richard Gedge. After being admitted into hospital at the weekend Richard developed complications from which he didn’t recover. Our heartfelt sympathy and love are passed to his children, wider family and friends.

This news takes us with complete shock, and we are all very mindful of the trauma already suffered by Richard’s family and friends through the loss of his wife Katie not long ago. This makes Richard’s passing so especially tragic: he had suffered and yet coped so admirably supporting his loved ones. Through all this time he’d also been dutiful to his team and committed to our Club. We will always be in gratitude for his energy and enthusiasm, and for his determination to make football a positive experience for everyone.

Richard’s funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday 3rd February at St Edmunds Chapel, West Suffolk Crematorium, where all are welcome. There will then be a short burial for family/close friends. This will be followed by a celebration of his life at The Constitutional Club in Guildhall Street, Bury St Edmunds; please arrive from 12pm. Further details regarding donations/flowers are available on Richard’s online memorial page. If you need to contact the the Club please contact one of the Club officers below.
