Player Development Centre

U8, U9 & Girls: Fridays from 5pm to 6pm.
U10, U11 & U12: Fridays from 6pm to 7pm.
On the astro pitch at the Skyliner Sports Centre.
The Player Development Centre (PDC) provides team play sessions in preparation for competitive football. The Academy coach led activities are for experienced players. Football movement and vocabulary is taught within game play and practice. FREE kit starter kit (shirt, shorts & socks) when you sign on. Nike size guide.
The regular outfield development sessions for junior youth players are held outside on the 3G all weather pitch at the Skyliner Sports Centre. These are enjoyable and developmental training sessions that are interspersed with occasional match experiences against other club teams.
Practical: Techniques and skills
Providing knowledge and understanding of the game that:
– Enthuses
– Motivates
– Increases self-esteem
Psychological: Engraining and conditioning the four key football behaviour sets:
– Confidence
– Focus
– Self control
– Determination
Sessions and matches are open to parents/carers to spectate, but we insist on no interference whatsoever.
The programme is especially beneficial to those playing for Sporting 87 FC. Familiarity with the programme’s coaches and the learning environment contributes to the players comfort and thereby ability to learn. Also, Club team managers can be asked to support programme tasks and objectives that are set for players, and feedback on progress can be more easily acquired.
A year’s membership fee is required in twelve monthly subscription payments. There is an initial sign on fee, which essentially pays for team kit provided (shirt, shorts and socks). Note that matches and optional Academy Experience excursions are charged for separately.
Our Academy Girls PDC programme is currently being delivered in association with the FA’s Wildcats girls football scheme. The sessions provide fun skills and games in a relaxed social environment, offering the same potential for advancement as our mixed PDC sessions.
