Female football policy

Girls in mixed youth teams… the best way to develop your all-round footy skills and attributes. This is our advised route into footy for all ages from pre-school to senior school. The mixed youth teams for U7s to U18s are run by our partner organisation Sporting 87 FC. These teams train midweek and play matches on Saturday mornings. Younger girls (from age 2) can join in with our mixed Footy Cubs and Tigers midweek sessions.

Girls in our mixed youth Academy complement your team footy with additional sessions that take you further and prepare you for a professional academy. You’ll receive advanced coaching for advanced results; focusing on your individual technique and thinking. Sessions are run for U7 to U18 players and a trial is required before acceptance.

Girls doing their own thing… some children and parents prefer a female focused environment. We understand that football games inevtiably involve a certain amount of agressive competition and some girls find it difficult to challenge boys in this way. That’s why we also provide high quality girls-only opportunities and experiences for you to enjoy and help you develop your game. Our partner organisation Sporting 87 FC runs girls-only teams for school years 5 to 7. These teams play in the Friday after-school girls-only 5-a-side league run by the Sporting Trust. Younger girls in school years 1 to 4 can take part in the Sporting Trust girls only Footy Tiger sessions that run alongside. Both the league and Tiger sessions apply a relaxed and social based ethos, but with a clear ambition to develop ability and competitive minds.

Ladies doing their own thing… at age 18 the game is gender separate. Although Sporting 87 FC currently doesn’t run a traditional women’s 11-a-side team, Ladies’ Futsal sessions (5-a-side) are run by the Sporting Trust. The group caters for youngsters age 14+ through to senior (age 50+) players.
